Getting a Publishing Deal is simple.
…But only IF you already know how the business works…
Which places every first-time author at a huge disadvantage.
Sadly, the BUSINESS side of publishing is ignored in practically every writing course out there! Which is exactly why most first-time authors have NO IDEA how to pitch, sell or talk about their their book to agents and publishers, and why less than 1% break through and sign a deal.
I studied Literature, Editing and Writing academically for five years, then worked as a freelance writer for another ten before I sold my first book. And this is because none of the academic publishing or writing classes I took taught me the BUSINESS side of publishing!
Because Book Publishing (believe it or not) is a retail industry. And certain aspects make a ‘product’ (aka a book and its author) sellable, and certain things mean an agent or publisher will reject your pitch (or worse, never reply) because even if it’s a great story or it’s well-written, it simply won’t sell.
So what ARE the aspects that make a nonfiction book – and its author – make it through to the 1% and get a deal?
That’s exactly what you’ll learn in this bundle of practical, real-world trainings on nonfiction publishing.

What you learn in the Book Deal Bundle is not available in ANY of the writing classes out there!
- The 3 step phrase used by every publisher and literary agent to identify a sellable book and WHAT YOU MUST SHOW in every element of your digital presence, to meet this criteria!
- How to get an offer of literary agent representation from a book proposal, a blog, a media piece such as an essay or article, or even a substack or email newsletter…

MORE AUTHOR TESTIMONIALS

Loved the way you laid things out and explained it so clearly. I’d only self-published before so I needed to know how traditional publishing differs. More than 2000 sales came from your pre-launch strategy alone. I never thought I’d make the Sunday Times Business bestseller list!
Lisa Johnson, Sunday Times bestselling author of MAKE MONEY ONLINE, published by Hachette

When I landed my first publishing deal with Penguin for my first book, I had no idea about the marketing and promotion side of publishing and how that affects book sales and further deals. I really wish I had been better prepared and had a clearer plan of attack than randomly posting photos on social media, keeping my fingers crossed and hoping my book was magically a bestseller. I really wish I had known so many of the things Louisa talks about in this training. Louisa talks about book publishing from a business perspective AND from the writer’s perspective, so you get the benefit of all those things agents and publishers just expect you to know, going into your first deal.
Louisa offers so much practical advice about how it all works AND how to maximise the success of your book. Louisa’s insider knowledge into the publishing industry is invaluable for any writer embarking on their publishing journey.
Ruth Clare, award-winning author of ENEMY, a memoir, published by Penguin Random House.

I just wanted to share the news that this morning I signed a contract with a traditional publisher for my thought leadership book! Thanks to your suggestion to try to get a related article published, I landed a regular column in Newsweek…

About Louisa Deasey
Louisa Deasey is a twice-published memoir author and book coach for writers determined to succeed in the world of traditional book publishing.
After studying writing and editing academically, Louisa went on to carve out a successful career as a freelance journalist, publishing widely in Australian and international print and digital publications and featuring in major print and radio media.
In 2010, Louisa’s first memoir LOVE & OTHER U-TURNS was published by Allen & Unwin and nominated for two awards. Louisa retrained in digital marketing and communications strategy and worked in higher education, until her second memoir, A LETTER FROM PARIS appeared. Getting the book deal for A LETTER FROM PARIS took 8 months from blog post to query to offer to contract in 2016, and in 2017 she wrote the draft. A LETTER FROM PARIS was published in 2018 in Australia and the United Kingdom, released as an audio book by Blackstone in 2019, and in the United States as paperback. In 2020, Indigo Books reprinted A LETTER FROM PARIS in Canada, and it hit the bestseller list.
Louisa is passionate about educating professional writers on the power of crafting compelling stories that meet the steep requirements for traditional publishing and understanding the business of publishing so their first (and often only) book can meet with the success it deserves.
