Another critique of your manuscript is NOT going to sell your book!
Because unless it has all 6 elements that need to be shown in the synopsis, it just won’t sell!
Sadly, most writers don’t even think about the synopsis or the query until they’ve spent YEARS (and thousands) getting the draft critiqued!
But the synopsis is often the FIRST THING A PUBLISHER OR AGENT SEES to assess whether or not they want to read any of the book itself!
Very often, no-one will SEE your manuscript, until you’ve submitted a synopsis that ticks the boxes…
Let me show you, line by line, how to write a synopsis that sells your book…
So you can write a better book, know what it needs to be submission-ready, and sell it quickly, too!

I sold both my traditionally published books by writing a synopsis with these steps, and in one case, I had a request for full manuscript within the hour and a deal by the next week!
I’ve sold books to many traditional publishers and been published in the US, the UK and Australia as well as Europe. I coach memoir writers on the structure of a compelling and transformational true story and how to succeed in the traditional publishing business, because for so many memoir and nonfiction writers, this first book is the only book you’ll ever write! You want it to sell to a major publisher and you want it to do well across the world.

WHAT AUTHORS SAY ABOUT WORKING WITH LOUISA…
Louisa has worked directly with leaders & authors published by Top Publishers including HarperCollins, Hachette & Penguin Random House, and Editors and Literary Agents across the US, UK and Australia.
When I landed my publishing deal with Penguin, I had no idea about how much the marketing and promotion side of things would fall on my shoulders. I honestly thought someone in-house would find opportunities for me and I would simply swan around with a glass of champagne in hand talking about my book. I really wish I had been better prepared and had a clearer plan of attack than randomly posting photos on social media, keeping my fingers crossed and hoping my book was magically a bestseller. I really wish I had done so many of the things Lou is teaching in PUBLISHED. Lou thinks about publishing as a business, which is ultimately what it is, and offers so much practical advice about how to maximise the success of your book. Her insider knowledge into the publishing industry is invaluable for anyone embarking on their publishing journey.
Ruth Clare, award-winning author of the memoir ENEMY, and TED-X speaker

Over 2000 of the first week’s book sales came from Louisa’s book launch strategy, which is how we made the Sunday Times bestseller list for Business & Nonfiction titles! The pre-launch marketing strategy was simply laid out and explained. I recommend Louisa to authors who have signed a traditional publishing deal because the marketing and pre-sales strategy differs from self-published books, which I’d only ever done before I signed with Hachette.
Lisa Johnson, Business Strategist and Sunday Times Bestselling author of MAKE MONEY ONLINE
What’s great about working with Louisa is that she can see possibilities for you that you can’t see because you’re too close to it all. She incorporates book publicity and author know-how with online marketing which is a really unique combination. The whole plan was so brilliant. Louisa came up with a GENIUS marketing strategy to promote my upcoming book launch and online business both at the same time.
Mary Adkins, author of WHEN YOU READ THIS, PRIVILEGE, and PALM BEACH

I’m much more confident in my negotiations with my agent since our work together, I only wish there was a programme like this for fiction!
Kathy Rampsberger, author of THE SHORES OF OUR SOULS and A THOUSAND FLYING THINGS
If you’ve never experienced it before, publishing can seem like an enigma, the sort of industry that’s closed to all but insiders. Louisa knows traditional publishing, both as an author and from the back end where agents, editors and sales teams operate. She has a knack for coming up with new ways to ensure your manuscript gets in front of the right people so you can secure a book deal.
Carrie Hutchinson, Co-Author & Ghostwriter of multiple nonfiction guidebooks and celebrity memoirs

I have known Louisa for 18 years. She is an amazing writer and interviewer, uncannily perceptive with a gift for nuanced observation. That, blended with her media and publishing industry savviness, makes her formidable.
Mystic Medusa, author of dozens of astrology books

Your strategy was brilliant when I was feeling completely overwhelmed with juggling the book proposal and writing the draft with my full time writing work for WHO. Thanks to the simplicity of it all, I got my first book to the publisher on time and have since written two more books for Hachette.
Karina Machado, WHO columnist and author of nonfiction books SPIRIT SISTERS, WHERE SPIRITS DWELL and LOVE NEVER DIES
TESTIMONIALS FROM PUBLISHING & DIGITAL MEDIA PROFESSIONALS

I recommend Louisa to memoir writers I work with as well as anyone who wants to understand the business of publishing and building platform. It’s so much better to learn this stuff BEFORE the book comes out, so you can really understand the marketing and business of books as a successful author.
Anjanette Fennell, Literary Agent at Key People
After working for more than 20 years in publishing in senior editorial positions in publishing departments, I’d had a lot of experience helping authors and writers get published. I’d also written hundreds of articles for magazines. I’d already read Louisa’s A Letter from Paris, so I knew she was a great writer. And after diving into Louisa’s masterclasses (especially The Hero’s Journey), I knew I’d found a gifted instructor and a skilled teacher. Louisa is the ultimate publishing professional. She knows the essential components of a great story, and she understands how to pitch your book to publishers and develop a good relationship with your publishing house.
You get the full package with Louisa and believe me this is a rare thing in the online world.
Sharon Lapkin, Former senior editor, managing editor and editorial services manager at Macmillan Publishers

Louisa was a fabulous editorial support, and she’s direct and coherent in the advice she offers which has been honed by her years of experience….
Eleanor Jackson, poet, author, board chair of Peril magazine & The Stella prize for women writers
I engaged Louisa for a technical book project that had a tight turn around. As well as meeting the deadline thoroughly, Louisa gave suggestions that, when implemented, significantly improved the text. I engaged Louisa for a number of nonfiction book projects after that initial book, and recommend her as the utmost professional.
Kelly Exeter, Publisher

Louisa has her finger on the pulse when it comes to the latest and most effective online business and marketing strategies. She’s an incredible listener and really took the time to understand me and my business – she has this ability to zoom out and see the gaps in my business and fill them in. This year I’ve restructured my business model and Louisa has helped me to shift focus; I’m now generating more income than before with less amount of work. She’s been a huge support in my business and I couldn’t recommend her enough.
Martha May Ronson, Business Coach for Artists
Louisa reviewed different assets for my online course business and her great eye for detail meant that she not only spotted gaps and inconsistencies, but also made lots of valuable suggestions for improvement. Louisa is one of those rare writers who is always researching and searching for a better way to do things…
Lindy Alexander, award-winning travel writer and writing coach

About your coach, Louisa
I’ve been writing, editing, teaching and working in print and online media and publishing for over 20 years. I studied Literature and Professional Editing at La Trobe University and RMIT, but learnt the most about storytelling and the business of media and publishing while working for major media. I successfully built a freelance career as a lifestyle journalist for hundreds of print and digital publications across the world, expanding into copywriting and marketing communications for brands such as Channel 9, NOVA FM, Google and the ABC. My first book, LOVE & OTHER U TURNS, is a travel memoir based on my year spent travelling outback Australia. My second book, A LETTER FROM PARIS, was published across the world and released as an audio production from Blackstone in 2019.
Writing, teaching, media and publishing have been my life’s work. It’s my mission to show creatives how to succeed beyond ‘normal’ expectations.
