Writing your story with your personal code from the stars…

The stars tell us stories, and they lead us to our own…

I’ve recently been diving deeper into exploring the myths and symbolism of the asteroids, planetary bodies and evening stars… Just last year, we saw the Aurora, which opened my heart to considering the wider perspective to so many of my human experiences. I’ve since been uncovering a world of reflective magic in the myths and patterns of the stories included in certain star systems. And have finally accepted that maybe, just maybe, the unique code that I’ve formed from certain structural pointers for story, could be a map or a gateway, for so many others to unwrap the beauty of their unique true story, too.

We come from the stars – and so do our stories

Cassandra, goddess of prophecy… Mnemosyne, goddess of Memory and Memoir… Jupiter, Saturn, Orion, Sirius… the galactic stars and the galaxies they beam from hold codes and symbols from ancient times, when astronomy and astrology and timekeeping came from the sky and its mythic symbols and the stories they told were maps of our divine stories, too.

As I’ve been considering the way mythic and timeless stories interplay and unfold with mathematical precision and a timing that is nothing short of divine, I’ve been developing  and ‘seeing’ my work with the Art of Memoir in a new way, too.

Where I used to see it as a writing programme with one (material) outcome: a deep dive into the art and craft of writing a book-length work based on lived experience for publication…
It was only ‘of value’ as such, in a material way. To those writers who wished to finish a book, and write it well.

It’s clear to me now, that I’ve been blind to the true value and the real purpose of this work.

The truth is, writing a book in this way is an evolution, it’s about revealing the unique star code within us, a reflection of age-old patterns in the sky that, if we follow its light and commit to the highest truth, can become something potent and powerful not just in the sphere of our own consciousness, but those we interact and intersect with on every level. Past, present, and future.
Stories outlast us, and they’re the only thing we can ever ‘own’. Our identity is made up of stories. A published book is just one outcome of finding that inner truth. The real work, and the real purpose – is to find the truth. And share it with our fellow humans from a place of conscious awareness.

The Story Star Codes and the structure of writing memoir

 

Writing your story is a powerful act of creativity, but it’s also deeply spiritual. So much of the process of writing is unconscious. Think about that. It’s the connections, the loops, the patterns, the programmes, the perceptions we’ve absorbed and anchored since we learnt to communicate.
It’s unseen ‘work’, remembering and turning that thought into ideation and coherent pattern, like making exquisite and uplifting music from chords, notes and scales.
I’ve always had a different view to those who believe writing memoir is an act of misery, or something that drags you down and back into moments from the past that can entangle and unmoor you.

I see it as forming a musical pattern, a cohesive sequence, from ‘codes’ and ‘flashes’ that might be memories, or a visual image, or a rememberance… and pulling that into the now moment and forming an imagining of the future… by seeing how these (seemingly disparate) stories from your experience – past, present and future –  intersect and connect.

Enter the world of the Stars…

I moved to the country two years ago and being able to step outside and gaze at the night sky, with all her planets and mystery laid bare, is profoundly moving on a soul level. Last year, the aurora was visible for months, due to the solar storms. In Australia. Imagine! Now we are in 2025, which is a year like no other, I can see the sky was shifting and reflecting the interplanetary evolution, just as we are. Everything – yes, everything, is connected.

Perhaps it was the magnificence of the aurora in the sky, I don’t exactly remember when the image came to me last year, but a coded story ‘map’ formed as an idea and i’ve been exploring how it reveals a conscious and methodical way we can approach the structure of a story. And where it reveals the important lessons and patterns i teach inside The Art of Memoir, in a new light.

The story star structure is also something I’ve ‘tested’ on hundreds of books and stories. I used these storytelling principles from hundreds of bestselling memoirs and blockbuster movies both to write my published books and to form the curriculum inside my programme, The Art of Memoir. And what I’ve found since developing the Story Star is that the structure of these stories – and the Art of Memoir – all follow this same star ‘code’.Every bestselling memoir, story, movie and even speech or advertisement, follows a pattern and ‘code’. And you have one. A different one to me. A different one for every story you write, every story you tell, every story you share. It can dramatically simplify the process to reveal it.

THE STORY STAR IS AN EVOLUTIONARY METHOD

 

The method this star ‘code’ reveals is about evolution and growth, and I believe that’s why each of these books and movies is so compelling. It moves us to our core, because we are spiritual beings in a human existence. They follow the star map and they lead us closer to the truth of ourselves.
If you want to sell it, if you want it to be compelling, the good news is, you CANNOT subscribe to the “memoir is miserable” lie.
Those books just don’t get published. And, if they do, they’re left out in rubbish heaps, pulped and remaindered because they make people feel so bad when they read them!
Every word of your book is a conscious act, and when you write in misery and lower states like shame, fear, guilt and from the ‘wound’, you re-enact and reinforce cycles of pain.
You must create from the healed point – the divine meaning, the truth, the power. This doesn’t mean you ignore the facts, it means you consciously construct new meaning and beliefs around them.
This is work. Deep work! It’s hard going down to that place of our deepest experiences without any guidance. And this is why so many memoir writers (who don’t seek support in the right ways) end up worse off from the experience. You can’t go down to the depths without someone to lead or support you when you run out of air. And you also need a lamp, a map, a snorkel, if you’re going anywhere previously ‘unconscious’ or unseen (which our deepest beliefs and patterns usually are!).

The best memoirs leave the reader moved, just as the most powerful stories – in music, memory and movie – teach us about ourselves

Because memoir is an act of creation, of weaving and forming, in order to connect with other humans and reveal truth about human existence. The very act of seeking the truth is a courageous act, and comes from the heart. This is why those who write memoir for publication are the bravest hearts of all.

Finding the truth and revealing it in story as an act of devotion

See also an incredible memoir I’m reading right now: Because I’m Not Myself, You See, by Arianne Beeston.
I remember reading a statistic on psychosis for new mothers, and marvelling at how society has hidden this (fairly likely!!) possibility for new mothers. I can only assume it’s patriarchy and capitalism that silenced this truth. Because unlike the old days, when an entire community would be supporting the birth of this new being and its mother (so she could rest), we live in a society that survives on a culture of ‘up and at em’!’ at the cost of all else. Rest is something you earn through SUFFERING, not something that is your right as a human who cannot function without it.
Beeston’s bravery in revealing her story of psychosis reveals this universal truth (Wintering by Katherine May explores similar themes) of how damaging this patriarchal cycle has been on our physical and mental bodies, but she does this by sharing her own story.
Her personal story. Her vulnerable story. And as such, she connects with readers, and we see a truth about ourselves, and the wider world, through this brave act of sharing.
Beeston’s story holds the 6 story star codes, as all great memoirs do. But more importantly: revealing this story and forming it into a coherent sequence so we can appreciate it, too, is her way of fulfilling her divine potential.

Think of your personal story as holding a unique star code.

There are 6 key ‘points’ or ‘beams’ that will open up your story star code and you can go as deeply down one point as you wish.
But you need to know, explore, and consider every light ‘beam’, to reveal your divine, compelling, most powerful story.
They all form a whole star, which isn’t really shaped like a star at all, but those ‘points’ give us a way to find the coherence, the thread. To make sense of the story.

It’s time to share the story star codes for memoir
It feels more important than ever to share these codes for writers who want to grow, develop and deepen a creative work of memoir. It’s not just about memoir, here, it’s a case of remembering who and what we are.

We came from the stars!
The earth is where we live, but this galaxy is but one of billions, and when you zoom out from the news and the wars and the earthquakes and the terrible stressful events which seem to be waking us up with greater and greater urgency to the fact that we are one, and one is all, and we need to find a way to share this planet because we are SO much more than we have been led to believe…
Yes, it’s terrifying when the world is in a complete deconstruction and chaos phase… but it’s very much like when you’re writing a book, which feels chaotic and terrifying because the ‘world’ of the narrative makes no sense until you can see your way through it.

The Story Star Codes give you a way through chaos to coherence. To wake you up to your latent magic. Your power, your potential and the truth of who you are.

I could share the keywords I have for the 6 story star codes here but very much like a map that makes no sense without a compass, it will probably read like jibberdish!
